Vision:

Freeze Frame strives to be an international leader in providing an enriching cinematic and multi-media experience through the delivery of diverse and innovative programming that educates, inspires and empowers children and youth.

Mission:

Freeze Frame provides educational opportunities for children and youth to explore the art of filmmaking and multi-media, through screenings of international film and video and hands-on workshops in a multilingual and multicultural environment.
Freeze Frame’s Mandate

Manitoban children and youth have access to more film and media than ever before, whether online, on their phone, at home, or in a movie theatre – powerful media that influence their perspective of the world, their understanding of others and their ability to share stories.

Youth increasingly shape the media technologies and industry of the future and it is imperative they all have the opportunity to see and experience a full spectrum of films and media created by Manitoban, Canadian & International artists, an experience that is enriched by these artists being present for post-screening discussions as well as hands-on workshops in their respective fields.

Freeze Frame’s programs encourage young people to explore stimulating, engaging and entertaining alternatives to the flood of data, images and video in the online and televised worlds and expand their consumption and use of film and multi-media to:

  • Develop appreciation and understanding of the art of filmmaking and multi-media
  • See and experience a full spectrum of films and media created by Manitoban, Canadian & International artists
  • Develop compassion for and understanding of others and a more inclusive worldview
  • Take charge of their personal development and their development as members of society
  • Use film and multi-media to express themselves creatively, convey a message, and affect positive social change

We also recognize the importance of connecting all children, youth and adults (parents, teachers, guest artists) from throughout Manitoba, Canada and the world to navigate this evolving landscape, experience and learn about film and multi-media in a collective, multilingual and multicultural environment; we are mandated to serve all Manitobans.

We believe that if today’s children are to be future leaders, they deserve to explore and develop understanding and appreciation of film and multi-media throughout their youth.
