News Release

Winnipeg – January 7th 2015– Freeze Frame Media Arts Centre for Young People is offering two unique opportunities for youth to get involved behind the scenes at the 2015 International Film Festival for Kids of All Ages.

The Youth Video Contest is an opportunity for youth ages 18 and under to enter their 7-minute video to be seen by industry professionals and to win prizes. Videos can be submitted in the following categories: Animation, Live-Action Fiction, Live-Action Non-Fiction, Documentary, Experimental, and a Public Service Announcement. Submissions are due on or before February 12, 2015.

Freeze Frame also offers youth ages 9 – 14 a chance to evaluate and select the award winning films. The Youth Jury is a great experience for kids interested in film, video, journalism, and writing and aims to encourage critical appreciation of films among young people. During the festival, Youth Jury members will screen festival films, and then meet as a group to determine the Best Feature Film and the Best Animated Short Story. To apply to be a member of the 2015 Youth Jury, applicants must complete a one-page review or critique of their favorite film or TV series and send to info@freezeframeonline.org on or before February 12, 2015.

We are thrilled that hundreds of Manitoba youth will be able to showcase their filmmaking skills on an international platform. Festivals like Freeze Frame are for youth and these contests will allow our young people to use cinema as a medium through which their unique voices can be heard,” said Pascal Boutroy, Artistic Director at Freeze Frame.

Over 4000 guests attended last year’s festival where Freeze Frame showcased over 40 films from 17 countries. Freeze Frame’s 19th Annual International Film Festival for Kids of all Ages will take place from March 1 – 8, 2015.
