Hannah’s Story to open Freeze Frame International
Film Festival
Winnipeg - The Freeze Frame 2008 International Film Festival for Kids of All Ages runs March 13 through to March 22 in Winnipeg showcasing shorts and features from the Netherlands, Denmark, India, Malaysia, France, Sweden, Germany and Morocco. The festival opens with the Manitoba premiere of Hannah’s Story written and directed by Juanita Peters.
Hannah’s Story tells the tale of a young girl whose selfless work has been an inspiration to adults all over the world. Hannah Taylor from Winnipeg is well recognized for her work to bring awareness to the plight of the homeless through the Ladybug Foundation. Under Hannah’s leadership, the charity has raised over a million dollars for those lacking life’s basic essentials. The filmmaker Juanita Peters will offer and audience Q & A as well as a two-hour workshop following each screening of the film.
Juanita Peters has worked for over 25 years in the news and entertainment industry variously as a newscaster, journalist and producer of documentaries and television. The Manitoba premiere of Hannah’s Story takes place March 13 at 7:00 p.m. at The Garrick Centre and is followed by an audience Q & A with Peters and Taylor.
Along with Hannah’s Story, the Festival opening features animated shorts from Caméra-etc followed by an audience Q & A with Jean-Luc Slock and Delphine Hermans.
Jean-Luc Slock founded the creative arts centre Caméra-etc. in Liège, Belgium almost 30 years ago. A distinguished filmmaker and producer, Slock has led production workshops with young people all over the world. During the festival he will present a collection of films made through Caméra-etc. and lead a discussion with the audience after each screening.
Delphine Hermans, a filmmaker and animator with Caméra-etc. since 2006, studied Fine Arts at the National School for Visual Arts in La Cambre, Belgium, specializing in animated film. Delphine has worked with children on film projects in Africa, India and Europe. She will lead young people through the production of a short paper cut out animation in her animation workshops during the festival.
The festival also welcomes independent Canadian director - Izabela Byzmek. of British Columbia and local independent director – Mike Maryniuk.

Freeze Frame is Manitoba’s media arts centre for young people. The
centre offers educational and cultural media arts experiences to young people
and hosts the annual Winnipeg International Film Festival for Kids of All Ages.
