Job Summary:
Within a bilingual not-for-profit cultural organization and registered charity, you will have the opportunity to develop special events. You may choose to volunteer to organize one or all of the following depending on your availability/course requirements
• A fundraising event (new, requires extensive development)
• A promotional evening for educators (annual, requires refreshing)
• Awards ceremonies for our video contests (annual, requires refreshing)
• Hospitality for visiting guest artists (hotel and travel arrangements, receptions, dinners etc on location) (annual, requires refreshing)
• The opening and closing of the Festival (annual, requires refreshing)
Responsibilities:Under the direct supervision of the Artistic/ Executive Director, you would develop and coordinate all aspects of the project within the confines of the budget assigned. Depending on the specifics and the scope of the event you would be responsible for:
• Assist in the development and implementation of new and existing approaches to the event
• Documenting how to organize and successfully carry out the event especially with regard to planning, timing and budget.
• Creating a list of potential sponsors and developing the approach
• Ensuring sponsors. partners and volunteers receive appropriate recognition at the events
• Coordinating volunteers to work with you to ensure the success of the event.
• Coordinating and conducting media relations relative to the event.
• Maintain copies and a list of all media coverage of the event
