WORKSHOPS COST:

Space is limited. We keep the workshops small so that everyone can be involved. Last minute enrollment is possible but we strongly recommend registering in advance. All children ages six and under must be accompanied by an adult. These workshops are delivered in English. Full-day Workshops
Intensive Animation Workshop
(March 15, 1:00 to 5:30pm)
Delphine Hermans, professional animator with Caméra –etc., a children’s creative arts and media education centre in Belgium, leads a fun and fascinating exploration of basic stop-motion animation techniques. This is a bilingual workshop Delphine Hermans will provide instruction in either French or English as required. Make a Film in a Day
(March 15, Noon to 5:00 pm & March 22, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm)
This popular hands-on intensive teaches the entire film production cycle in just one day! In the process, participants will produce their own short video. Create Your Own Visual Story
(March 16, 2:30 to 4:30)
Join Juanita Peters, Director of Hannah's Story, for a two-hour workshop on the art of
storytelling using visual imagery and storyboarding. Character Design for Animation
(March 21, 1:30 to 3:30 pm)
Award-winning animator Izabela Bzymek will demonstrate how paper cut-outs and a basic stop-motion animation technique can bring a character to life and animate their facial expressions to create emotions. Participants are encouraged to attend the screening of Oma’s Quilt during the Tour the World short program on March 21 at 1:00 pm followed by a Q & A with Izabela Bzymek.All workshops require advance registration and a minimum of 6 participants. Scratch Animation on 16 mm

Acting for the Camera

For those who love to “ham it up,” this dynamic workshop will give them the chance to do so in front of the camera. Animate Yourself Workshop
Mike Maryniuk and other local filmmakers will help participants create pixelation animation using their own bodies and cardboard cut-outs on a three-dimensional farmyard set. A selection of these animations will be posted on the Freeze Frame web site daily.Animation Station
Using plasticine and paper cut outs, children and parents will learn how to create their own mini-animation projects that make simple characters come to life. A selection of these animations will be posted on our web site daily.
