Opening Night

Join us for our Opening Ceremony at the Pauline-Boutal Hall, 340 Provencher boulevard with our special guests. Director Olivier Ringer and daughter/actress Wynona Ringer (Belgium) will be in attendance to present their film: On the Sly / À Pas de loup. Meet our Youth Jury, visit the Freeze Frame Media Zone and help us celebrate our 16th year!

Festival Close

Sunday March 11th, 2012
3:00 pm at Cinematheque

Celebrate sixteen years of great films for the young and the young at heart at our festival close. This is also the best opportunity you’ll have to meet the Freeze Frame Youth Jury, that will be presenting:

  • The NFB Youth Jury Prize for the Best Animated Short
  • The Freeze Frame Youth Jury Award for Best Feature Film
  • The Audience Awards for the Best Animated Short and the Best Feature Film

Phew! It’s a lot. But we’ve made a step-by-step guide to help you enjoy the festival; whether it’s your first time… or your 16th.

THE LINE-UP:

Take flight and see the world with Freeze Frame! Every year, the Freeze Frame staff scout out the best films created especially for children and young adults from around the globe. Step out of the ordinary and into the new, relevant, compelling and fun! Enjoy award winning features and shorts with a wide range of themes and perspectives on the big screen.

SUBTITLES ARE A CINCH:

Freeze Frame provides live narration for subtitled short films for the very young. Films for children ages 10 and under are narrated by local actors in the theatre.

HOW MUCH?

Tickets: Individual Tickets: $5.00

Family Tickets (five people or more): $4.00 / person

Passes: (Available through Freeze Frame only)

Family Festival Pass: $35 (unlimited screenings for up to five people)

Film Fanatic Pass: $20 (unlimited screenings for one person)

Schools have priority. We strongly advise that you buy tickets in advance to avoid being turned away at the door.

There are TWO ways to buy tickets:

1. Visit the Box Office where the film is playing. You MUST do this half an hour before the screening

NB: Freeze Frame Box Offices at Cinematheque and the CCFM only accept CASH

2. Give us a call at 949-9355 or email info@freezeframeonline.org to reserve advance tickets and workshop spaces

Get in on the lights! Camera! Action! These workshops are hands-on and take place daily at the Festival. Workshops are offered in English and French For full descriptions check out pages 23 and 28.

$12.00 for four-hour workshops

FREE DROP-IN PROGRAM
The Freeze Frame Media Zone

Where film, Television and New Media Meet!

 From 11:00 am to 1:00 pm
Monday to Friday in the CCFM (Jean-Paul Aubrey Hall)

The Media Zone is a digital playground that explores new developments in technology with media art installations and daily feature presentations led by industry professionals. Try-out, play, learn, and experiment with innovative media arts and technology.

Animation Station

…a festival favourite
Where: Jean-Aubrey Hall, CCFM
When: March 5th to March 9th, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm

The Animation Station is a free drop-in animation workshop. Create characters out of plasticine or paper-cut out and watch them come to life on the screen.
